Tetrabutylammonium Hydroxide (40 % In water) is widely used reagent as a Regeneration Solution in Cation Non suppressed applications on Ion Chromatography.

As a reagent for ion-pair extractions Tetra-n-butylammonium hydroxide, aq. solution is used as a phase-transfer catalyst in organic synthesis especially for alkylation and condensation reactions.

Tetraheptylammonium bromide is a quaternary ammonium compound (QAC) mainly used as a phase-transfer agent.

Tetra-n-heptylammonium bromide is used as a mobile phase for the separation of a series of glucosinolates by reversed-phase ion-pair liquid chromatography. It acts as an ion pair reagent, which is used in the extraction of molybdenum complexes into toluene film. Further, it is used in organic synthesis. It is also used in coatings, printing ink, rubber, glass, leather and cosmetics.
