Ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate is widely utilized in cryo-negative staining which helps to visualize particles while preserving the sample. It is used as a catalyst to desulfurize thiophene and its derivatives. It serves as an analytical reagent to measure the amount of phosphates, silicates, arsenates and lead in an aqueous solution. It is also used in electroplating, in fertilizers for crops and in the production of molybdenum metal and ceramics. It is used as an analgesic in medical field.
