Natural graphite is mostly used for refractories, batteries, steel making, expanded graphite, brake linings, foundry facings and lubricants. It is also used in pigments, anodes arc-lamp carbons, coating cathode ray tubes and moderator in nuclear piles. Graphite (carbon) fiber and carbon nanotubes are also used in carbon fiber reinforced plastics.
